The Hult Prize is a global competition that empowers university students to develop innovative solutions to vital community challenges and pressing social issues. Each year, the competition focuses on a different social challenge, and participating teams work to create business models that can significantly impact these issues.

The competition comprises of several stages, including local events, regional summits, and a global finals event, where teams present their ideas to a panel of judges. The winners of the global finals receive a funding of $1 million to turn their innovative startup concepts into real-world social enterprises. The Hult Prize at Kathmandu University is the first On Campus Hult Prize event in Nepal. Students from all universities in Nepal and their affiliated colleges are welcome to participate by forming teams of 2 to 4 members. The top two teams from the finals at Kathmandu University earn the opportunity to pitch their ideas at the regional summit of the Hult Prize later that year.

Like every year, the Hult Prize at Kathmandu University returns with its 9th iteration for the 2024/25
cohort. The theme for this year is "Unlimited". Unlike in previous years, participants are not confined to a specific goal; instead, they have the freedom to explore limitless possibilities and develop innovative ideas that align with at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The 2024/25 cohort of the Hult Prize at Kathmandu University will be organized by a dedicated team of
24 passionate individuals from different schools and affiliated colleges of Kathmandu University. This
team will operate under the leadership of Campus Director Miss Shreeju Manandhar and Deputy
Campus Director Miss Shreedhi Neupane, ensuring a collaborative and impactful experience for all
participants, with strategic support and guidance from the advisor, Assistant Professor Dr. Bibhu Ratna
Tuladhar.

The inauguration ceremony of the Hult Prize at Kathmandu University for 2024/25 cohort was held on
September 15, 2024, at the CIKU Hall in the central campus of KU. This event marked the
commencement of an exciting journey that will unfold over the next five months.
The ceremony was attended by both the new organizing committee members and their predecessors,
fostering a spirit of continuity and collaboration. Each member introduced themselves, highlighting their roles and aspirations for the upcoming cohort. The new Campus Director and the outgoing Campus Director presented remarks, sharing insights and experiences from their respective tenures.

In recognition of their contributions, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the previous organizing committee members, honoring their dedication and hard work. Overall, the event set a positive tone for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in this year’s competition.
